THM Analyzer Proves Valuable in Birmingham
The Shades Mountain Filter Plant operated by the Birmingham Water Works Board (BWWB) has benefited from the real time high frequency data on daily THM values provided by the THM-100™ online analyzer. The online analyzer has proven valuable to THM mitigation strategy and optimization.
AMS Introduces Reliable Trace Metals Analysis In 5 Minutes
Aqua Metrology Systems has introduced an innovative and proprietary analytical method on their SafeGuard™ system that provides measurements of trace metals in 5 minutes without compromising accuracy levels.
Advanced Water Demonstration Project Incorporates THM-100™
Padre Dam Municipal Water District in Santee, California has installed the THM-100™ online THM monitor from Aqua Metrology Systems to provide real-time data on DBP formation, aid the utility in evaluating their innovative free chlorine disinfection strategy, and ensure the safety of potable reuse water being used produced at their Advanced Water Purification Demonstration Project.
Arizona Facility Uses Ammonia-Laden Centrate for THM Control
The Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department is using the THM-100™ to optimize its chlorine injection process. The Tres Rios Water Reclamation Facility is using ammonia-laden centrate for THM control. The THM-100 monitor enables the facility to optimize its chlorine injection process and minimize the formation of THMs in its effluent water by providing the operational staff with immediate and accurate daily reports on THM levels. The complete article as published in the September 2015 issue of Water & Wastes Digest can be read here.
AMS introduces an online accelerated THM Formation Potential Analyzer, the THM-100-FP™, providing real-time predictions of future THM levels in water/wastewater treatment plant distribution networks.
Control DBP Formation in Wastewater Effluent with Online THM Analyzer
Wastewater Treatment Plants facing stringent effluent permit limits for ammonia, nitrogen and THMs can benefit from using online THM analyzers. Measurement of THM levels in the effluent prior to and following the chlorine injection point is necessary as utilities work to reduce DBP formation while minimizing nitrogen and ammonia levels. The introduction of an online THM analyzer for use in wastewater applications now enables WWTPs to characterize THM values in real-time.
The THM-100™ online monitor provides automated, unattended measurement of THMs. Leading drinking water utilities and engineering groups have come to value the high frequency and reliable data provided by the THM-100; enabling a firm and immediate understanding of THM values so they can better anticipate problems and maintain optimal treatment conditions. The THM-100 is cited as the key element in real-time THM data gathering in three ACE15 technical session presentations.
The City of Birmingham will present Online THM Analyzer Used to Optimize Chlorine Disinfection Process and Minimize DBP Formation in Alabama in the TUE15
Corona Engineering will present High THMs? Strip‘em Away! Full-Scale Demonstration of Two Aeration Strategies for Removal of TTHM from Treated Water in the TUE38
San Jose Water Company and Pax Water Technologies with Utility Services Group will present Energy-Optimized Large-Scale THM Removal: Results from a 12-MG Reservoir, San Jose, California in the TUE38
During ACE15, AMS will also unveil their novel SafeGuard™ online trace metals analyzer for chromium VI and selenium. The SafeGuard analyzers discriminate between selenite (Se4) and total inorganic selenium and chromium-6 and total chromium; providing complete process control to proactively manage, control, mitigate and remediate trace metals contamination.
In a newly released Water Research Foundation (WRF) report, TTHM concentration results from the THM-100™ analyzer yielded excellent results. Throughout the duration of the demonstration testing, results obtained from the AMS THM-100™ analyzer were within ± 10% of laboratory results. In addition to the TTHM concentrations, the individual THM species concentrations also matched very well between the AMS instrument and the laboratory.
Evaluation of the field TTHM analytical instruments demonstrated that these instruments are easy to install and operate, can generate TTHM results quickly, and most importantly accurate and precise.
Online Water Quality Instruments Poised for Growth
Real-time data and analytical information from online instruments help utilities comply with water quality regulations. The complete article detailing how online water quality instruments are poised for growth was published in the March/April 2015 issue of World Water.
